COMPETITION GUIDELINES

The competition is divided into two rounds, preliminary and the finals

Preliminary Round (Espresso Challenge)

Maximum of 25 participants accepted from 40 applicants

300 audience attendees in one session

Participants must arrive to the venue 30 minutes before competition starts

Participants are asked to attend in formal or smart casual

Participants will be asked to make 1 espresso, 1 latte and 1 cappuccino

Time limit will be 5 minutes to calibrate the grinder, 5 minutes to make the drinks and 5 minutes for judges to complete assessment

Judges will score on the final product as per the marking criteria

Top six candidates will proceed to the final round

Second Round (Cold Signature Drink)

6 candidates will participate               

A time limit of 10 minutes will apply for preparation of Cold Signature Drink for each candidate; this includes time for set up. 2 candidates will prepare simultaneously.

Judges will be given 5 minutes to assess both candidates.

All proceed to next round

Third Round (Hot Signature Drink)

6 candidates will participate               

A time limit of 8 minutes will apply for preparation of hot Signature Drink for each candidate; this includes time for set up. 2 candidates will prepare simultaneously.

Judges will be given 5 minutes to assess both candidates.
